Qualifications for Bus Driver Positions
The following are eligibility requirements for employment as a Distrist Six School Bus Driver:
- Have no more than 4 points against driver's license within the last 12 months
- Pass DMV and SLED checks
- Have a valid South Carolina Driver's License
- All Bus Drivers are required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and will be subjected to random drug and alcohol testing
- Successfully complete a school bus driver's training class of 20 hours and sucessfully pass a physical performance test
- Must be eligible for CDL with passenger endorsement
- Must pass CDL and School Bus test
Drivers are responsible for obtaining a Department of Transportation physical and proof of a a clear Tuberculosis test, completed within the last 12 months. Copies of the applicants Driver's License and Social Security card are required.
You must also fill out a Driver Information and Evaluation Form and South Carolina Department of Education School Bus Driver Training and Admission Record form at the District 6 Transportation Office.
All applicants must provide 3 references. If possible, one of the three should be a personal reference. Please make sure your references complete the survey that is emailed to them.
