BUS DRIVER

TRANSPORTATION


DESCRIPTION
: Transport students to and from school in a safe manner. Handle buses and students in adverse conditions. Abide by all state and district transportation regulations. Requires prolonged sitting. Must work indoors and outdoors year round. Ability to relate well to students, and keep order on the bus. Must teach safety rules, learn children’s names and work with parents and staff. Must work in a noisy and crowded environment. Must work in and around dust, fumes, and odors. Other duties as assigned. Attendance and punctuality are important functions of this position.

QUALIFICATIONS: Willingness to work with students of all ages in a positive manner is a must. Must be able to drive in all weather conditions. Able to work with children in any weather conditions. Knowledge of car seats, wheelchair tie-downs, safety vests and safe driving practices and motor vehicle regulations. Ability to maintain order and control of students and enforce rules. Valid Washington State Driver’s License with proper endorsements (CDL Class B, S & P1 Endorsements with air brake restriction removed) and Washington state school bus drivers’ authorization and meets all the applicable school bus driver requirements in WAC 392-144-102. Current Department of Transportation physical and First Aid/CPR card. Successful applicants will be subjected to mandatory drug/alcohol testing. Attendance and punctuality are important functions of this position.

SCHEDULE: OPEN UNTIL FILLED.

Immigration Reform and Control Act Requirement: The recommended applicant, if not a current regular employee, will be required to complete an INS I-9 form and must provide proof of employment eligibility prior to working.

Disclosure Statement and Record Check: Pursuant to Chapter 486, Washington Laws of 1987, the recommended applicant, if not a current regular employee, will be required to complete a disclosure form indicating whether he or she has been convicted of crimes against persons listed in the law. In addition, a background check, based on fingerprints, will be requested from the Washington State Patrol & FBI. Employment is conditional based upon completion of the record check.
