What are the responsibilities and job description for the 2025-2026 Transportation Mechanic position at Transportation?
Position Requirements:
Education: High School Diploma or GED
Certification: Valid Texas commercial driver’s license (Class B) P and S Endorsement
ASE certification perferred
Experience: 2 -3 Years experience as auto and bus mechanic
Electrical and cooling systems with AC experience preferred
OBD-2 Diagnostics preferred
Duties:
- 240 Days
- Evaluate mechanical problems in buses and vehicles using diagnostic equipment
- Rebuild, replace, or repair major vehicle components, assemblies, and systems including engines, transmissions, suspension, etc
- Knowledge of diesel and fuel engine maintenance and repair
- Ability to push, pull and lift 45 lbs., heavy equipment and vehicle parts
- Ability to pass required bus driver safety training and drive buses as needed
- Check and repair electrical and cooling systems
- Estimate time and material required to perform major repairs
- Provide own hand tools
