Role Description
We are seeking a hands-on Financial Controller to lead accounting, financial reporting, and operational finance across our portfolio of companies. This role is critical in building scalable financial infrastructure, improving visibility into performance, and supporting strategic growth.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, process-driven, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment. This person will own the day-to-day accounting function while helping elevate financial insights, controls, and decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Reporting
- Own monthly close process across multiple entities
- Prepare and review financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)
- Ensure accurate revenue and cost recognition across operations
- Maintain general ledger integrity and appropriate accruals
- Oversee AR/AP processes, including aging, collections, and payables
- Manage intercompany transactions and consolidations
Cash Flow & Financial Management
- Monitor and manage cash position across entities
- Develop and maintain cash flow forecasts
- Improve visibility into working capital and financial performance
- Support leadership with clear, timely financial insights
Operational Finance
- Partner with operations to analyze profitability and performance
- Improve reporting on key metrics such as margin, cost efficiency, and utilization
- Support pricing and business decisions with data-driven insights
- Ensure alignment between financial reporting and operational activity
Systems, Process & Controls
- Improve and standardize accounting workflows and close processes
- Establish controls to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial data
- Optimize use of TMS, accounting systems, and reporting tools
- Drive automation and scalable reporting solutions
- Build processes that support growth and future acquisitions
Compliance & External Coordination
- Manage relationship with external CPA/tax firm
- Oversee tax filings and financial reporting compliance
- Support audits, insurance reporting, and lender requirements
- Ensure adherence to regulatory and accounting standards
Strategic Support
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning
- Assist with acquisition diligence and post-acquisition integration
- Provide insights on business performance, risks, and opportunities
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred)
- 5–10 years of experience in accounting or finance
- Experience in transportation, logistics, or operational businesses preferred
- Strong understanding of accrual accounting and multi-entity structures
- Advanced Excel skills and comfort with data analysis
- Experience working in a high-growth or entrepreneurial environment
