Cayman Express is seeking an experienced, highly organized Dispatcher / Freight Coordinator to join our growing transportation team. This role requires someone who can think proactively, communicate effectively, and keep drivers, customers, and freight moving efficiently.
Responsibilities:
· Dispatch and manage OTR and local drivers
· Load plan freight efficiently to maximize service and profitability
· Coordinate pickups, deliveries, appointment times, and backhauls
· Understand and manage driver Hours of Service (HOS) compliance
· Communicate with drivers, brokers, customers, and shipping facilities
· Work with freight brokers and load boards to secure freight opportunities
· Monitor driver progress and proactively resolve service issues
· Ensure accurate load information, references, and dispatch details
· Assist with detention tracking, load updates, and customer communication
· Support daily operational planning and after-hours coordination when needed
Qualifications:
· Experience in trucking, transportation, dispatch, or freight brokerage
· Strong understanding of FMCSA Hours of Service regulations
· Experience dispatching OTR and local drivers
· Ability to multitask in a fast-paced transportation environment
· Strong communication and problem-solving skills
· Experience with TMS/dispatch software preferred
· Knowledge of load planning, routing, and freight coordination
· Ability to work independently while supporting team operations
Preferred Experience:
· Freight brokerage experience
· Multi-stop load planning
· Backhaul planning and optimization
· Driver relationship management
· Transportation operations and customer service
