Duties
- Safely operate box trucks and other commercial vehicles, including those with manual transmissions, refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, roll-off trucks, and tractor-trailers.
- Load and unload freight efficiently using proper handling techniques and equipment such as forklifts when necessary.
- Execute route driving plans accurately, ensuring timely deliveries across designated areas while adhering to traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to maintain vehicle safety standards and report any issues promptly.
- Manage documentation related to deliveries, pickups, load manifests, and delivery logs with precision.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers to coordinate delivery schedules and resolve any issues that arise during transit.
- Maintain a clean and organized vehicle interior and exterior to uphold company standards of professionalism.
Experience
- Proven experience as a delivery driver or truck driver in a commercial setting, preferably with experience handling freight loads of various types including refrigerated goods or specialized equipment like flatbeds or tankers.
- Familiarity with manual transmission vehicles and the operation of different truck configurations such as dump trucks or roll-off trucks.
- Knowledge of route planning, navigation tools, and efficient driving practices to optimize delivery times.
- Ability to perform basic vehicle maintenance checks and troubleshoot common mechanical issues.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) appropriate for the vehicle class being operated; endorsements for specific vehicle types (e.g., tanker or refrigerated trailer) are a plus.
