Part-Time Mailroom Clerk

JOB PURPOSE:

This is a position in a fast-paced and high volume mail room that receives over 15,000 carrier invoices per week. Mail Room Clerks receive and sort mail and then disseminate it to the right individual or department. They also perform clerical tasks such as data entry, filing, and scanning. Mail room clerks are expected to possess basic mathematical skills as they are often required to perform adding and subtracting functions.

CRITICAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Receive and sorts incoming mail for distribution.
• Opens mail (by hand or machine) and organizes by date of receipt on invoice batches.
• Distributes mail to appropriate recipients or departments.
• Assist in filing and archiving documents.
• Check postal rates and weigh outgoing mail and post shipping labels on packages.
• Perform data entry activities.
• Perform scanning duties.
• Maintain lists, follow-up on corrective actions, and ensure timely completion of assigned work.
• Work on projects or complete administrative duties as assigned.
• Timely pickup of daily mail.
• Timely distribution of daily mail to bins for scanning.

SUPPORTING DUTIES TO THE CRITICAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Strong listening and communication skills.
• Must have basic computer skills, the job entails some basic data entry.
• Must be able to stand on your feet during your shift.
• Must be able to lift a maximum of 45 pounds, and be able to move multiple boxes throughout the day. Additionally, must be able to push heavy-laden carts throughout the building.
• Must possess a positive and hardworking attitude.
• Must have acute attention to details.
• Strong work ethic.
