The State of New Hampshire, Department of Transportation, Bureau of Turnpikes, has a full-time vacancy for a Maintenance Mechanic II position.
SUMMARY:
To perform skilled duties required for building construction and maintenance projects under the general direction of the Maintenance Mechanic Foreman, in the Bureau of Turnpikes, Department of Transportation.
YOUR EXPERIENCE COUNTS: Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Experience: Equivalent combination of 2 years of education and experience after completion of high school. Education and experience must be in the fields of carpentry, electrical, painting, plumbing, masonry, sheet metal work, welding, auto repair or related field.
License/Certification:
Valid driver's license
Other Requirements:
1. Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) must meet the minimum standards as established by the hiring agency.
2. Must have the ability to lift 50 lbs., work from heights, and walk up to one mile on uneven terrain.

Ability to work in an outdoor or semi-enclosed environment, subject to various climatic conditions, including inclement weather.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs skilled work in the trades of electrical, plumbing, heating, mechanics, and carpentry as required to maintain state building and grounds.
Assists in the installation, repair, and troubleshooting of high voltage electrical systems, heat and ventilation systems, intercom systems, security card systems, control systems, and generators. Accesses and troubleshoots computer systems to ensure proper facility maintenance and operation.
Purchases materials required for safe workable and code conforming installations for construction and maintenance of state buildings and grounds.
Assists in the maintenance of street lighting, bridge lighting, and toll plaza systems using a bucket truck to ensure the safety of the traveling motorist.
Operates various mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical tools to perform trade work as assigned.
