What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substitute Bus Aide position at Transportation Department?
PERFORMANCE
RESPONSIBILITIES:
*Work with Bus Driver(s), Transportation Supervisor,
and Transportation Clerk to aid a student in line with
a student’s I.E.P.
*Assist students with physical disabilities on and off the bus
using the wheelchair lift or other adaptations as instructed -
Battery or hydraulic powered
*Monitor students with disabilities while they ride the bus
to ensure their safety and assist them with any physical needs
*Have physical capability of safely and appropriately lifting
and managing preschool and special needs children when
necessary
*Make sure that students with disabilities are safely left with
a school staff member or their parent/caregiver before departing
*Properly handle wheelchair tie-down straps and other
safety equipment as needed
*Deal with students in a friendly manner, even the occasional
unruly student
*Deal with occasional exposure to blood and bodily fluids
*Assist the Bus Driver with other duties as requested by the Bus Driver,
Transportation Supervisor, or Transportation Clerk
*Comply with all Plain Local Board of Education policies and
procedures
*Perform other duties as directed
