Field Educational Representative
Transportation Classes WELDING/CARMAN/RAIL CAR REPAIR
TCU/IAM union youth training program in St. Louis, MO, is seeking applicants for employment as a Field Educational Representative. TCU/IAM partners with the St. Louis Job Corps Program to train and place young adults in Transportation Industry careers.
Job duties:
· Instruct a classroom of 20-25 students between the ages of 18-24 in the Rail Mechanical/Transportation portion of the Curriculum
· Teach additional courses (Transportation Overview, Rail Freight Service Worker, Rail Passenger Service Worker, Mass Transit Service Worker, Airlines Service Worker, Barge Line Service Worker, and Shop & Consumer Math)
- Demonstrate and teach welding skills for our Rail Car Repairer/Carman Welding students
- Follow all safety and OSHA regulations and protocols
- Supervise multiple students on a daily basis
- Monitor and document student progress
- Maintain an orderly safe and productive shop/classroom
- Assist students in the Job Search process (employability skills, resume building, interviewing techniques)
An ideal candidate will have the following qualifications/skills:
- Experience in the Transportation Industry – railroad experience preferred
- Proficient welding experience as a Journeyman Carman or related field
- Experience as a teacher, trainer, supervisor, or instructor
- Are open to and feel comfortable working with young adults ages 18-24
- High School Diploma – Mandatory
- College Degree – Preferred or applicable experience accepted
