What are the responsibilities and job description for the Master Mechanic (TRANS) position at Transportation Center?
Qualifications:
- High school graduate/GED; minimum of five (5) year’s experience in automotive and or heavy duty vehicle maintenance and repair procedures; verifiable vocational training may be considered for a portion of the experience requirements.

General knowledge of computer operating systems, with experience utilizing computerized diagnostic programs preferred.

A satisfactory MVR; participation in school division controlled substances and alcohol testing; minimum of four A.S.E. certifications, with a preference towards A.S.E. Master level status. Obtaining a Virginia State Certified Safety Inspectors license and valid commercial driver’s license with necessary endorsements will be required within the first six months of employment

Exposure to chemicals, liquids, noise, and other hazards related to standard automotive repair operations.

Work is performed primarily at a vehicle repair facility; employees may be required to work outside at times in inclement weather; employee should be able to work with other shop employees as a team player.

Ability to operate shop tools and equipment common to vehicle maintenance and repair operations; ability to perform some heavy lifting; ability to climb onto and under equipment and/or vehicles; ability to work for extended periods on concrete floors; ability to operate tow trucks and other vehicles common to consolidated fleet repair activities; working knowledge of welding and fabrication; must own sufficient hand tools to perform the duties as assigned; work may involve weekends or overtime.
Pay Rate:
Grade-C12(credit is based on years of full-time experience in a related position)
Assignment:
Full time / 12 months / 245 days
