Part Time Custodian
School Year Only (180 days)
Qualifications
- Must have passed a physical exam directed by state requirements and comply with stipulations recommended by the district’s examining physician.
- Ability to read and comprehend technical information.
- Ability to work safely with chemicals and equipment.
- Ability to work cooperatively with other employees. Be a team player.
- Self directed/ motivated.
- Job requires physical ability to lift 40 lbs., stand, climb stairs and ladders, lift, push, pull, and bend for extended periods.
Certifications
- Maine DOE Certification - Valid CHRC
- Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation (If itinerant position)
- Wear proper uniform attire and maintains serviceability
- Be able to follow district policies; contractual obligations with professional attitude
- Follow all necessary requirements of time clock procedures
- Wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Participate in the Driving Dynamics course as recommended by the State and required by the District.
- Must become CPR certified; and maintain certification throughout employment
- Perform general custodial duties at the assigned location(s).
- Provide an adequate custodial inventory of materials and supplies on your custodial cart and closet.
- Perform emergency custodial duties during the school day (if scheduled).
- Replace materials as needed in areas that are maintained by Custodial Services
- Maintain the building in a safe, neat and orderly fashion.
- Help keep the grounds and play areas free from litter.
- Use proper operation and cleaning methods for any machinery or equipment
- Use proper cleaning methods for spaces that you are responsible for
- Assume responsibility for the general security of the building.
- Assume responsibility for the general fire safety of the building.
- Maintain communication between the Lead Custodian in regards to building needs or problems
- Report maintenance issues to the Lead Custodian
- Participate in any professional development the district offers for Custodial Services
- Become familiar with all emergency procedures of the building including valves, switches and other building equipment.
- Offer input to the Lead Custodian and/or Operations Supervisor in regards to materials, equipment, procedures, and maintenance needs
- Know and understand the use of Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
- Perform additional duties as directed by the Lead Custodian, Operations Supervisor, and/or their designee.
Education
- High School graduate or GED preferred
- Part time, school year only position; excludes storm days, summer breaks, scrub weeks
- This position is 20 hours per week. There may be some hours in excess of pre-established hours. The position is primarily a second shift position; there may be some required change to shifts based on district needs to cover leave requests and special projects.
- Travel between district buildings may be required.
Reports To: Support Services Director
Terms of Employment: As determined annually by the District.
Evaluation: Completed annually by Director or their designee.
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
