🔧 Build, Install & Keep Commercial Equipment Moving

Transport Refrigeration of NW Arkansas, Inc. (TRA), a Thermo King dealership, is looking for a motivated and mechanically skilled Equipment Installer to join our Lowell, AR team.

In this hands-on role, you'll install APUs, transport refrigeration units, cab air conditioning systems, air and coolant heaters, and other custom equipment on commercial trucks and trailers.

This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in diesel, automotive, HVAC, truck equipment, refrigeration, or mechanical installation who enjoys working with tools, solving problems, and learning new equipment.

🚧 What You'll Do

• Install APU (Auxiliary Power Unit) systems on commercial trucks
• Install cab air heaters and coolant heaters
• Install new and used transport refrigeration units (TRUs / reefer units)
• Install cab air conditioning systems
• Assemble custom products, components, and equipment for customers and OEMs
• Follow installation procedures and meet standard installation times
• Operate company and customer vehicles, forklifts, hoists, and shop equipment
• Use hand tools, air tools, ladders, scaffolding, and creepers safely
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
• Complete work orders and required documentation accurately
• Travel occasionally for training, customer installations, or road service
• Work at customer locations and outdoors in varying weather conditions when needed
• Follow company safety procedures and maintain confidentiality
• Perform other duties as assigned

🧰 What We're Looking For

• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training preferred
• Experience in equipment installation, diesel, automotive, HVAC, refrigeration, truck equipment, or a related mechanical field is preferred
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to learn new equipment and installation procedures
• Valid, unrestricted driver's license
• Basic computer and math skills
• Strong verbal communication skills
• Professional appearance and dependable work habits
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Willingness to work overtime when business needs require
• Willingness to travel for training and customer needs
• Ability to follow safety procedures and maintain a clean work environment

📋 Certifications You'll Obtain

You'll receive training and support to obtain certifications required for the position, including:

• EPA 609 Refrigerant Certification
• Thermo King TriPac / APU Installation Certification
• Forklift Certification

🔧 Tools & Equipment

Employees in this role must have a toolbox with standard and metric hand tools and air tools appropriate for the work.

💪 Physical Requirements

This is an active, hands-on installation position. You should be comfortable with:

• Lifting up to 100 lbs several times per day
• Frequently standing, walking, bending, twisting, squatting, and climbing
• Pushing and pulling equipment and materials
• Repetitive hand and arm movements and frequent gripping
• Working from ladders, scaffolding, and creepers
• Working in and around trucks, trailers, and shop equipment

🌦️ Work Environment

The position is primarily based in a service/shop environment but may require road calls, customer-site work, and outdoor work in varying weather conditions.

You may occasionally be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and moderate levels of shop noise.
