Job Function: To effectively perform the duties of Fill Room & Sanitation Associate in an efficient manner within company policies and procedures. To ensure that all day-to-day operations run smoothly and that all relevant tasks are performed consistently and to customer specification and recorded accurately. To ensure that all work performed contributes to the best financial interests of Transpacific Food.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Specific

  • Responsible for pre-production inspection check list in fill room and trailer inspection before loading
  • Assure proper labelling of containers per customer specification.
  • Filling containers to specified weights – ensuring that scale is zeroed out at onset.
  • Staging filling room with necessary materials for the day in coordination with Forklift Driver
  • Responsible for cleaning and sanitizing the processing equipment and production areas in the facility, including tanks, pipes, screens, floors, drains, walls, and ceilings.
  • Using appropriate chemicals to clean and sanitize different equipment or areas of the facility.
  • Using quantities of chemicals appropriate for each task.
  • Legibly documenting chemical usage
  • Monitoring concentration of chemical solutions used for cleaning and sanitizing.
  • Storing chemicals securely and safely in the chemical storage area
  • Responsible to refill chemical containers for foam dispersal systems
  • Responsible for proper handling, storage, and use of cleaning and sanitation chemicals
  • Ensure proper GMP’s are followed throughout the day.
  • Responsible for daily sanitation documentation to be accurately and timely completed.
  • Responsible for cleaning restrooms and offices on a periodic basis
  • Responsible for reporting any food safety concern and empowered to do so
  • Responsible for proper storage, staging and care of packaging material in fill room per Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
  • Cleaning fill room daily
  • Ensure proper labelling and palletizing of all products.
  • Ensure accuracy of label, label placement, tie highs, and correct wrap processes for all finished packaging
  • Responsible for keeping the finish room “Inspection and Audit ready” at all times.
  • Responsible for proper storage of left-over packaging materials daily
  • Ensure proper GMPs are followed throughout the day, Food Safety
  • Keep doors closed at all times except for when loading truck.
  • Responsible for keeping the back dock, pallet storage area, and truck docking area clean and orderly.
  • Responsible for all “finished product production” documentation to be accurately recorded by lot and presented to Production Supervisor at the end of each shift
  • Responsible for count of total units presented to Production Supervisor at the end of shift daily
  • Ability to pick up and carry 50 lbs and maneuver 400lb drums multiple times continually throughout the day.
  • Responsible to keep pallet jack charged.
  • Responsible for reporting any food safety concern and empowered to do so.

 General

  • Control excessive use of chemicals and supplies
  • Strive to meet or exceed shrink to ensure <1% loss each month.
  • Wear all required safety equipment and Personal Protection Equipment (PPE)
  • Responsible for rotating through breaks and lunches with teammates in filling room to avoid stopping.
  • Rotate through breaks and lunches with coworkers to avoid delaying sanitation procedures.
  • All other duties/tasks as assigned by Supervisor.

 

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 
 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and 2-3 years of responsible experience in food production; or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.  
 

LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write effective correspondence and communicate. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization. 
 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to interpret miscellaneous drawings and schematics. 
 
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS GMP, HACCP Preferred

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop; kneel; crouch; or crawl; and talk; or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move 50-100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and depth perception.

LENGTH OF DAY/WORK WEEK Approximate 40-hour workweek. Overtime may be required.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to occasionally loud.
