Responsibilities
- Source relentlessly - Build pipeline for hard-to-fill technical roles through creative outreach, boolean mastery, and tapping into technical communities. This is 60% of the job.
- Own full-cycle recruiting from sourcing through offer, partnering with our CTO on closing
- Design and execute recruiting operations—Greenhouse optimization, interview training, metrics/reporting, candidate experience standards
- Participate in onsite hiring loops as an interviewer and recruiting expert
- Build sourcing playbooks and repeatable processes for our core engineering profiles
- Occasionally recruit for non-engineering roles (PM, potentially GTM later) as the business needs
- Serve as talent advisor to hiring managers on role definition, leveling, compensation, and interview design
- Track and optimize recruiting metrics—pipeline quality, time-to-fill, source of hire, offer acceptance rates
- Build employer brand and recruiting presence in NYC's technical community
- 3-5 years of full-cycle technical recruiting experience, preferably at Series A/B startups
- Exceptional sourcing skills - Track record of finding passive candidates through compelling outreach, creative channels, and building relationships in technical communities
- Experience building recruiting operations from scratch (you've been the first or second recruiter before)
- Versatility across engineering domains—comfortable recruiting for AI/ML, security, platform, and frontend engineers even if you haven't done all of those before
- High ownership and comfort with ambiguity—you don't need a recruiting coordinator or heavy process infrastructure to be effective
- Data-driven approach to recruiting with experience tracking and optimizing key metrics
- Startup mentality: Ready to wear multiple hats, jump into unfamiliar territory, and move with urgency
- Owner mentality: Take end-to-end ownership of hiring outcomes, not just activities
- Strong judgment on trade-offs between speed and building for scale
- Excellent communication skills and ability to partner effectively with technical leaders
- Experience recruiting at fast-growth startups or companies with strong engineering cultures
- Background building recruiting presence and networks in NYC's technical community
- Track record of driving creative sourcing strategies that differentiate in competitive markets
- Previous experience in healthcare or complex enterprise systems
- Familiarity with AI/ML hiring landscapes
- Shape recruiting and culture at a critical inflection point (12→50 people)
- Partner directly with technical leadership on high-impact hiring decisions
- Build recruiting operations your way without legacy constraints
- Be embedded with an exceptional engineering team in NYC
- Join a team that values impact, velocity, and technical excellence
