What are the responsibilities and job description for the Procurement Manager position at Translucent Solar?
Translucent Solar is building its team in Summerville, South Carolina, and we’re looking for an experienced Procurement Manager to help strengthen and scale our manufacturing supply chain.
This is an opportunity to join a growing solar manufacturing company and play a key role in building supplier partnerships, controlling costs, maintaining material availability, and supporting production growth.
What You’ll Do
• Lead strategic sourcing, purchasing, supplier management, and procurement activities.
• Source and qualify domestic and international suppliers.
• Lead RFQs/RFPs, contract negotiations, pricing, payment terms, and long-term supplier agreements.
• Manage supplier performance for quality, cost, delivery, lead time, and responsiveness.
• Partner with Production and Planning to ensure materials are available when needed.
• Optimize inventory levels, safety stock, reorder points, and inventory turns.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and alternate suppliers.
• Coordinate inbound logistics, freight providers, customs brokers, and international shipments.
• Monitor tariffs, commodity pricing, supplier capacity, and supply-chain risks.
• Track key procurement KPIs including cost savings, PPV, supplier delivery, inventory performance, and material availability.
• Lead and develop procurement and purchasing team members.
What We’re Looking For
• 5 years of procurement, purchasing, sourcing, or supply-chain experience.
• Manufacturing procurement experience.
• Leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong supplier negotiation and contract-management skills.
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite, Epicor, or similar.
• Strong analytical, Excel, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• International sourcing experience is a plus.
• Solar, electronics, automotive, semiconductor, or advanced manufacturing experience is highly desirable.
