Job Description
Translarity seeks a Process Engineer for our Hutto, Texas facility with a background in Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or Physics to improve our manufacturing process capabilities. This person will audit and improve existing processes as well as create new processes and work instructions.
This is a hands on position that requires setting up, troubleshooting, and operating equipment to design, build, analyze, and improve new and existing products. The role requires some travel to our facilities in California and Asia. The successful candidate will report to the Director of Mechanical Engineering.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop, document, and qualify assembly processes, including work instructions, travelers and routings, PFMEA, and control plans, and hand off robust, well documented processes to manufacturing
- Design and execute experiments to define process windows, drive yield improvement, and reduce scrap and rework
- Characterize processes to identify and reduce sources of variation
- Establish metrology methods for process control and use metrology tools to quantify experimental results
- Analyze data statistically, write reports, and present results to manufacturing and engineering teams
- Define, specify, evaluate, and implement new processing equipment and materials, and work with vendors on preventive maintenance, repairs, and upgrades
- Lead problem solving efforts, including hands on troubleshooting of module level and integrated process and equipment issues
- Act as a process integrator, coordinating development activities with fellow engineers and supporting new process and product requirement development
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related technical field
- 5 years of experience in precision manufacturing or process engineering
- Working knowledge of GD&T
- Proficiency with SolidWorks and 2D CAD
- Strong root cause analysis and problem solving skills
- Experience in a fast paced development environment, with a track record of moving products from development to production
- Ability to work independently and in small teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Probe card, MEMS, or microelectronics assembly experience
- SolidWorks fixture and tooling design
- Lean or Six Sigma green belt
- Python or other scripting for data analysis
- ERP or MRP familiarity
