Service Worker

The primary responsibility of the Service Worker is to serve as a vital and valuable asset to a Maintenance Team where your mechanical aptitude abilities will directly impact the quality of ensuring all public transportation vehicles are maintained safely and efficiently.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

• Fuels and checks fluid levels on equipment
• Washes and cleans coaches and other company vehicles
• Performs janitorial duties related to Lextran facilities
• Performs minor mechanical duties such as checking tires and adjusting air pressure, changing bulbs and lenses, checking batteries, jump starting buses and making minor repairs
• Answers road calls and performs bus changes as necessary
• Performs general upkeep of bus shelters and bus stops
• Other duties as assigned by the Director of Maintenance and Maintenance supervisors

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE JOB

• Maintain effective communication with all staff to ensure continuity of care
• Assists with identifying areas for improvement and making constructive changes
• Understands all aspects of the company and keeps abreast of all changing policies and procedures
• Performs all other duties as assigned by the Director of Maintenance and Maintenance Supervisors

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• One (1) year experience in minor vehicle maintenance and cleaning
• Ability to obtain and maintain a required Commercial Driver’s License (training is provided)
• Must pass USDOT physical and drug screen
• High School diploma/ equivalent or combination of education and experience To perform required duties and responsibilities for this position

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS ESSENTIAL TO PERFORM THE DUTIES OF THE JOB

• Frequently exposed to overhead reaching, pushing/ pulling and gripping tools
• May be required to stoop, bend, kneel or climb
• Occasionally lifts objects weighing 5-50 lbs.
• Frequently uses hands/fingers to manipulate parts and equipment by utilizing operating tools such as wrenches, screw drivers, pliers, and other tools to successfully perform essential job related tasks on a daily basis
• Frequently exposed to outside elements of extreme heat and cold
• Occasionally operates a sit down forklift
• Frequently exposed to fumes, odors, hazardous materials, dirt and dust
• Frequently operates bus through bus wash and fuel island

Salary : $20 - $26
