Domestic Operations Agent

This is a direct hire, full-time onsite position based in Peabody, MA.

Position Overview:

SGL is seeking a skilled Domestic Operations Agent to join our team. As a Domestic Operations Agent, you will be responsible for processes and procedures used in freight forwarding activities, while operating within a team to coordinate, process, and manage all domestic logistics related to our outgoing business flows from our varies production facilities and 3rd party warehouses.   Ensuring timely and accurate movement of freight and information, while providing exceptional customer service within the Operations Department.

Job Duties:

• Coordinate and schedule shipments to ensure delivery by promised deadlines.
• Process incoming orders and assign them to the appropriate carriers for dispatch.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives within regional logistics operations, ensuring alignment with the regional supply chain strategy to support business growth and achieve company objectives.
• Oversee transportation and documentation for freight shipments across the U.S., including preparation of delivery notes, transfer orders, and shipment records.
• Monitor carrier performance against operational agreements and serve as the primary escalation point for Logistics Service Providers and internal teams on service-related issues.
• Lead or support investigations related to shipment complaints and claims, ensuring thorough follow-up and resolution.
• Collaborate with customer service to provide updates on order status and address special customer requirements.
• Identify and resolve delivery-related issues in a timely and efficient manner.
• Evaluate internal logistics processes and provide recommendations for improvement to the Logistics Director.
• Ensure consistent and effective order distribution by coordinating with multiple carrier partners and third-party logistics sites to guarantee reliable and on-time freight delivery.
• Perform additional logistics and support tasks assigned.

Education and Experience:

• Freight industry experience preferred, however, we are open to training the right candidate.
• Experience in freight forwarding operations processes and procedures.
• Experience of bonded freight and cargo

Physical Requirements:

Work authorization/security clearance requirements:

• Must be eligible to work in the United States
• Must pass TSA eligibility screening

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $26.44 - $28.84 Per Hour
