Shop Foreman / Lead Fabricator Welder

Charleston Custom Welding & Transformer Rails

We are a fabrication company that produces a variety of custom metal products from railings, stairs, and gates to our own line of skateboard grind rails. We are seeking a highly skilled and knowledgeable Shop Foreman / Lead Fabricator to join our growing team. We are centrally located in North Charleston, close to both I-26 and I-526. Compensation is $50-63K/year benefits DOE, schedule is typically Monday-Friday 8:30-5:00.

Qualifications

· Must be highly proficient with a wide variety of tools

· 5 yrs fabrication, metalwork and/or carpentry experience

· 2 yrs TIG welding experience

· 2 yrs stick welding experience

· AWS certification a plus

· Blacksmithing experience a plus

· 2 yrs management experience

· Must be detail-oriented, responsible, consistent and efficient

· Must have positive attitude

· Must be organized and able to keep a clean and safe working environment

· Must have strong math skills

· Must be able to read complex part drawings and plans

· Must have reliable transportation

· High School diploma or GED

· Knowledge of building codes and construction processes a plus

· Potential hires will be required to take a written test as well as a welding and skills test

Responsibilities

· Leading and managing projects and the work of others, in the shop and on job sites

· Ensuring safety of all crew

· Training new employees

· Maintaining equipment

· Communicating with customers and other trades

· Ensuring high quality expectations are met

· Collaboration on designs

· Appropriate material & process selection

· Produce cut lists and part drawings

· Tool and jig setup

· Fabrication work includes but is not limited to cutting, shaping, grinding, drilling, welding, painting, packaging, and installation
