Position: Outpatient Substance Use Disorder Counselor

Supervisor: Clinical Supervisor
Location: Klamath Falls, OR
Hours: Evenings and some weekends

Classification: Full-time, non-exempt

Salary: $23.00 - $29.38 per hour, depending on experience

Transformation Wellness Center is looking for a full-time Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC I) substance use disorder. Counselor to join our team of dedicated employees. Transformations Wellness Center is a substance use disorder treatment program in Klamath Falls, Oregon. Our vision is

No person seeking recovery from substance use disorders will ever have to wait to access services. By creating a full continuum of care, we will alleviate the gaps that interfere with a person's ability to be successful in their recovery. With continued positive relationships in our community, we will develop partnerships to create a network of care that will meet each individual's needs.

Transformations Wellness Center is a drug-free workplace and uses a random drug screen monitoring program for all employees.

Qualifications:

· A minimum of Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor I (CADC I-Oregon) or hold a current license as a health or allied provider issued by a state licensing body in counseling.

· Individual must demonstrate an understanding of, and the ability to apply, theories of substance use disorder (SUD) treatment and Oregon Administrative Rules (OARS) as they apply to SUD treatment.

· Demonstrate knowledge of and application of the ASAM criteria

· The individual must also demonstrate a strong work ethic, effective communication skills, and adherence to organizational policy and procedures.

Expectations/Requirements:

1. Work as part of a comprehensive clinical team.

2. Complete SUD assessments, provide a SUD diagnosis, develop an individualized treatment plan, and provide evidence-based SUD treatment services.

3. Provide treatment in group and individual settings in accordance with the individual treatment plan.

4. Maintain file documentation in a timely manner demonstrating the ability to record individual encounters and sessions in accordance with the treatment plan and per OAR requirements.

5. Demonstrated the ability to develop transition plans that support ongoing recovery goals.

6. Demonstrate a positive working relationship with peers, staff, and community partners that includes working closely with referral sources, keeping them informed of the progress of the individual as needed in compliance with confidentiality and Health and Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) 42 CFR part 2 requirements.

7. Manage a full caseload as determined by agency requirements.

8. Participate in individual supervision a minimum of once monthly and group supervision once monthly.

9. Be available to work days, swing shifts, graveyard shifts, and weekends when needed to keep the organization operational.

10. Other related duties as assigned.

Transformations Wellness Center uses a “Stages of Change/Motivational Interviewing” model of treatment. Counselors are expected to have a strong understanding of these treatment models. Counselors are expected to be proficient with the use of the American Society of Addictive Medicine’s (ASAM) criteria in determining placement and length of stay for individuals.

Individuals recovering from SUDs must have maintained continuous abstinence for the immediate past two years at the time of hire.

Must have and demonstrate competency using a computer for word processing, databases, and internet usage. Must be able to operate general office equipment such as e-fax, telephone, and photocopier machines. Must have a valid driver’s license. Must have, attain, and/or maintain CPR and first aid certification. Must have, attain, and/or maintain a food handler's license.

Work Environment:

Our work environment is respectful, multicultural, and inclusive. The position requires the employee to dress in a manner that meets the standards for professional attire per department- or job-specific requirements (See Dress Code Policy in Employee Handbook). Other working conditions/demands include:

  • Primarily indoors (95%)
  • Frequently sits at a desk, stands, walks, bends/stoops, reaches above/below shoulders, uses arms, wrists, and hands, and grasps/squeezes.
  • Occasionally twists, crouches/squats
  • Must be able to perform repetitive tasks/motions and have good manual dexterity.
  • Must be able to lift/carry up to 20 lbs. frequently and push/pull 21-75 pounds occasionally.
  • Must be able to hear alarms/telephone/audio/normal speaking voice.
  • Must have clarity of vision.
  • Must be able to drive a motor vehicle to perform the job.
  • May be exposed to communicable disease.

Pay: $23.00 - $29.38 per hour
