Supervising Clinician

Supervising Clinicians are responsible for providing clinical supervision and training for unlicensed, graduate level and/or intern clinicians who provide outpatient mental health counseling and may also maintain a caseload of therapy clients. Supervising Clinicians conduct individual and group supervision and oversee clinical development of therapists in conjunction with the Clinic Directors. Supervising Clinicians are organizational culture carriers who are accountable for promoting clinical excellence and quality outcomes.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Deliver a blend of clinician supervision and therapy in person and/or via telehealth depending on client and supervisee needs.
  
  

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Provide individual and/or group supervision weekly to unlicensed clinicians. Licensure supervision is to be held according to state regulations, payor contracts and agency supervision policy. Supervision may be provided both live and/or via video conference and may be across multiple sites within a market.
• Maintain board registration and other regulatory requirements needed to provide licensure supervision where required.
• Review clinical documentation of supervisee, which includes diagnosis, treatment plans, session notes and related documents. Approve and sign session notes, treatment plans and other documents where required by payor and/or licensure requirements.
• Complete and maintain record of supervision notes and supervision agreement in dedicated file and record sessions in EHR. Submission of notes to be filed by the end of the day that the supervision was held.
• Assess clinicians across core competency areas; provide regular measurement and feedback to clinicians. Use outcomes-based measures and other data to inform supervision.
• Identify and monitor areas for performance improvement and report concerns regarding clinical skills, ethics or compliance to Clinic Director.
• Report on any suspicion of fraud, waste and abuse to Clinic Director.
• Complete required training and maintain all licensing requirement to maintain independent licensure.
  
  

Mental Health Therapist Duties And Responsibilities

• Provide individual, family, and group psychotherapy in an outpatient setting via in person care at our clinic locations and/or telehealth where clinically appropriate. Some services may be provided in alternative locations such as schools when contracts, etc. allow. All services should be provided in a compassionate, person-centered manner.
• Must be able to provide services in person within a clinic site and/or a hybrid model of in person and work from home days as determined by business needs of clinic and clinical needs of clients.
• Conduct intakes, assessments and develop person centered treatment plans and discharge summaries in compliance with agency policy and regulatory compliance documentation standards.
• Utilize evidence-based treatment approaches and use outcomes-based measures/tools to evaluate clients and progress.
• Routinely measure and review data related to client outcomes, including therapeutic alliance, where appropriate.
• Coordinate care and act as liaison with internal programs, community agencies, and medical providers with patient consent.
• Collaborate regularly with prescribers to ensure coordinated care where applicable.
• Facilitate referrals for medication management and/or interventional services or other services and levels of care where clinically appropriate.
• Identify and respond to clinical risk, adverse events, and provide crisis interventions services as needed.
• Inform supervisor, Clinic Director and/or prescribers of changes in client condition or crises. Inform external care team (e.g. external prescribers) where indicated.
• Participate in supervision on an ad hoc basis or more frequently as determined by Clinic Director, or more frequently if required by regulatory or licensing boards.
• Maintain an appropriate caseload consistent with productivity expectations.
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic medical record within 48 hours (best practice) but no more than 72 hours from time of service.
• Maintain schedule/availability to allow for intakes and recurring appointments to be maintained.
• Communicate with clients and colleagues in a professional manner via phone, EHR messaging or other approved electronic means.
• Maintain high ethical standards in compliance with all company, state, and federal laws, regulations, and policies and apply ethical and legal principles to assessment, treatment, and discharge planning.
• Remain current with licensure requirements, CEUs, trainings, and industry standards.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA and all confidentiality requirements.
• Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.
  
  

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or higher from applicable accredited program.
• Valid independent clinical license in the state(s) where services are being provided.
• Meet minimum post licensure experience requirements for supervisor as determined by licensing Board.
• Meet all Licensing Board requirements to provide clinical supervision (e.g. registration, state required coursework, years of experience, etc.).
• Knowledge of state/federal rules and regulations.
• Strong computer abilities and proficiency with electronic medical records.
• Strong commitment to professional Code of Ethics.
• Understanding of privacy and HIPAA requirements.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work well with a team, especially in stressful situations.
• Training in clinical supervision. (Preferred)
• Knowledge of current standards, principles, and practices of psychiatric care. (Preferred)
• Knowledge of current and emerging trends in technologies, techniques, methods, issues, and approaches in mental health. (Preferred)

Northeast Health Servicesis committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The base compensation range for this role is $51 – $62 per billable unit. Clinic Supervisors (non-lead)/Supervising Clinicians are eligible for a supervisory differential that enhances their base rate. Actual compensation may vary based on licensure, experience, market-driven enhancements, and incentive opportunities available for this role. These ranges reflect our current standard compensation practices and may be adjusted over time to remain competitive and aligned with organizational needs.
