CDL A Equipment Handler / Mechanic Trainee

Up to $33/hour

Monday thru Friday! Weekends OFF!

This position requires a Class A CDL and will be responsible for movement and positioning of commercial truck and trailer equipment between customer distribution center and offsite repair shop, as well as to and from outsource third party vendors/dealers. Additionally, will perform light mechanical work, general shop organization, cleanup and administrative tasks as assigned, and be trained as an apprentice technician

Essential Functions Related To Equipment Movement

• This position must have a valid and clean Class A CDL, Medical Card and clean driving record
• Move equipment between multiple locations (Primarily within Elizabeth and Piscataway areas)
• Position equipment on property as directed
• Work with General Manager to coordinate timing of equipment moves in advance
• Stage equipment within repair facility for technicians to perform repairs and maintenance
  
  

Additional Essential Functions CDL A Equipment Handler / Mechanic Trainee :

• Perform light mechanical repairs and maintenance as instructed
• Perform lot checks for tire air pressure, tags and permits, fluids, lights, damage
• Help prepare equipment for in-servicing and also for going out of service
• Decal application/removal, documentation, de-identification
• License plate and permit installation
• Receive parts in shop inventory, help put away parts/tires recieved
• Support annual physical inventory process
• Ensure a clean, safe working environment in the maintenance facility and any surrounding area associated with the maintenance facility
• Clean shop, storage area and parts room
• Support GM and Foreman efforts to document equipment damage
• Support GM and Foreman in oil sample preparation and mailing
• Answer phones and support coordination of road calls
• Support required DOT paperwork and filing efforts
• Help technicians where additional help is required (2-person lift etc)
• Support GM and Foreman efforts to maintain shop manuals, catalogues & bulletins in support of maintenance personnel
• Additional tasks as assigned

CDL A Equipment Handler / Mechanic Trainee Requirements:

• This position must have a valid and clean Class A CDL, Medical Card and clean driving record is a non-negotiable requirement for this position
• Excellent communication skills to receive and convey information effectively: oral and written expression, oral and written comprehension, speech clarity.
• Ability to read and write in English, enter data into a compute in English and willingness to learn new systems is a must
• Equipment maintenance background (Mechanical knowledge and experience) preferred
  
  

Job Pay

$28.00 - $33.00 per hour
