What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shop Supervisor position at Transdev?
- 2nd Shift: 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM
- 3rd Shift: 10:00 PM – 6:00 AM
- Competitive Compensation package $70,000 - $82,000 yearly salary.

- Duties include PMs and preparing buses for DOT inspections.
- Supervises mechanics, investigates, provides information, and makes / administers decisions concerning employee discipline.
- Daily review of the subsequent follow-up on all abnormal issues.
- Evaluates the performance of both new and current employees.
- Facilitates and schedules training of both new and current employees.
- Works with Human Resources by participating in interview panels for maintenance positions.
- Monitors the budget at a sectional level.
- Assisting with scheduling outside contract labor for special projects and monitoring the laborers' performance.
- Conducts daily safety/shift turnover meetings with both mechanics and supervisors on duty.
- Works with facility maintenance to communicate issues relevant to a safe and pleasant work environment.
- Schedules major and minor repairs.
- Creates work orders for repairs to coaches, reviews past work orders for repairs to coaches, and reviews and closes current work orders.
- Assigns work to mechanics based on the work required and the mechanic's qualifications.
- Makes on-the-spot decisions regarding repairs and, at times, makes on-the-spot repairs when necessary.
- Communicates with mechanics on diagnosis and procedures for repair and assists with technical questions.
- Monitors tracking sheets generated by management to ensure repairs are completed promptly.
- Monitors the work of both internal employees and vendors for quality and quantity.
- Works with Parts personnel to obtain the correct replacement parts.
- Decide which coaches to pull/swap out and relay this information to operations at least 8 hours before.
- Lists and schedules coaches for PMI’s and other work and communicates this information with operations.
- Performs other tasks and projects as assigned
- Requires five (5) years of progressive mechanical experience to include hands-on diesel mechanic experience, of which a minimum of 2 years must be in a supervisory or lead role.
- An associate degree in management, mechanical engineering, or a related technical field is preferred, but not required or an amount of experience equivalent to an associate degree.
- High School Diploma or GED and valid Colorado driver’s license and the ability to obtain a CDL Class B with Passenger Endorsement required.
- Must have forklift certification.
- Ability to obtain ASE Master Transit Bus Certification
- Must be computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs.
- Must be able to work amid constant interruptions, prioritize and deal with time pressures and be able to clearly communicate verbally and in written form.
- Must have a current working knowledge of all mechanical systems related to heavy-duty transportation vehicles, including transmissions, engines, brakes, and climate control units.
- Must have strong organization and have basic math skills for tracking trends and for report writing.
- This ability to handle crisis/conflict is required.

- The essential functions of this position require the ability to:
- Work outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions.
- Work outside, work alone and in remote locations.
- Sit/Stand for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per day); frequently walk for long distances and on possible sloped ground or slippery and uneven surfaces
- Push and pull objects up to 50 pounds, occasionally throughout the workday; lift material weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance; occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to files or equipment stored at ground level
- Withstand heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job; tolerate exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes and noise
