Assistant General Manager

The Assistant General Manager supports the General Manager in directing the passenger transit operations. This position is based in Elmira, NY in supporting the C-Tran, CEATS and Steuben County Transit. The Assistant General Manager is responsiblefortheday-to-dayoperationsofthecontract,facilityandsafetyofpersonnelandpassengers,customer service and managing the financials.

Qualifications:

• HighSchoolDiploma orGEDrequired

• Bachelor’sdegreeorequivalentinFinance or 5 years of experience in a finance role.

• 5 7yearsofsupervisory ormanagementlevelexperience in the passengertransportation industry

• Knowledgeofrelevantfederaland stateemployment laws

• Thoroughknowledge oflaws,ordinancesandregulations underlyingthe transitoperation

• Thoroughknowledge ofthe methods ofoperationofthe transitsystem’s staffandoperational departments

• Abilityto dealwith state and localgovernment

• Abilitytomanage costcontrolandfinancial/budgetexperiencehandlingmultiple locations

• Workingknowledge andproficiencywithMicrosoftWord,ExcelandPowerPoint programs

• Strongwrittenandoralcommunicationskills;excellentpresentationskills;abilitytoinfluencepeopleatall levels of the organization

• Abilitytoorganizeandperformworkefficiently;strongattentiontodetails

• AbilitytonavigateLaborRelationsissuesandworkeffectivelywithunionpartners,includinglabor grievances, and negotiations.

• Mustbe able toworkshifts orflexible workschedulesasneeded.

• Withstandheavytrafficareaswhileperformingthedutiesofthejob;tolerateexposuretoconsiderable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes and noise.
