What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Product Manager - Smart Mobility Platform position at TransCore?
TransCore (TRN), a subsidiary of ST Engineering, is actively seeking a highly experienced Senior Platform Product Manager for our Smart Mobility team. This position will be based in the Atlanta Office. Based on business needs, travel will be required.
About The Role
Build the Platform That Enables the Future of Movement
At TransCore, we’re reinventing how people, goods, and cities move. We operate at the intersection of transportation infrastructure, cloud platforms, data, and AI, powering mission-critical systems used by governments and operators worldwide.
Now, we’re building our next-generation platform. This platform will serve as the foundational underlay for a wide range of mobility experiences, business models, and partners—across cities, operators, developers, and enterprises.
We’re looking for a Senior Platform Product Manager who wants to work at the system level: defining primitives, shaping markets, and turning complexity into reusable leverage. This is a zero-to-one role for someone excited to create a platform that others build on.
At TransCore, we combine decades of transportation expertise with modern cloud, data, and AI capabilities. We value builders, thinkers, and leaders who want to do work that matters—at scale.
What You’ll Do
Establish a Scalable Platform System

What You’ll Do
Establish a Scalable Platform System
- Shape a cloud-native, API-first platform system designed for scale, reliability, and extensibility.
- Define platform abstractions that reduce coupling and accelerate innovation across teams.
- Balance near-term delivery with long-term system coherence.
- Translate ambiguous, real-world mobility challenges into modular, reusable platform components.
- Be accountable for platform outcomes—customer value, ecosystem growth, and revenue scalability—not just feature delivery
- Design platform primitives that allow teams and partners to launch faster, scale reliably, and monetize flexibly.
- Enable multiple business models through configuration, extensibility, and policy-driven design
- Work on problems at the intersection of movement, events, pricing, identity, and real-time decisioning.
- Balance near-term delivery with long-term architectural integrity and platform leverage.
- Design for ecosystems, not just direct consumers.
- Shape the platform narrative—what it is, who it’s for, and why it matters.
- Partner with strategy, engineering, and go-to-market teams to identify where the platform unlocks new value.
- Help define how developers, governments, and enterprises build on the platform.
- Collaborate deeply with engineering to inform architecture, sequencing, and tradeoffs.
- Align stakeholders across product, design, security, legal, and operations.
- Bring clarity, structure, and momentum to complex, cross-functional initiatives.
Product Craft
- 7 years of product management experience, ideally with platforms, APIs, SaaS, or infrastructure products.
- Demonstrated experience building horizontal capabilities used by multiple teams or customers.
- Strong product judgment—knowing when to generalize, when to specialize, and when to say no.
- Comfort working with cloud-native systems, APIs, data platforms, and distributed architectures.
- Ability to engage deeply with engineers and architects without needing to write production code.
- Experience with highly available, secure, or regulated systems is a plus.
- Proven ability to operate in ambiguity and create structure where none exists.
- Experience launching new platforms, products, or major capabilities from concept to scale.
- Systems thinker who optimizes for long-term leverage, not short-term wins.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to influence across levels and functions through insight and narrative.
- Bias toward action, learning, and iteration.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Business, or a related field required.
- Master’s degree (MBA, MS, or equivalent) preferred but not required.
- You’ll help shape the foundation of the platform’s future, not just ship features.
- Your work will influence how cities price roads, manage demand, and move people more efficiently.
- You’ll operate at a real-world scale where software decisions impact millions of daily trips and billions in economic activity.
