About the Role
This role involves managing and coordinating driver schedules and vehicle utilization to ensure on-time, safe, and efficient deliveries.
Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate driver schedules and vehicle utilization to ensure on-time, safe, and efficient deliveries.
- Train, coach, and counsel drivers on safety protocols, hours of service, fuel compliance, and company policies.
- Manage, develop, and communicate with drivers daily, addressing their concerns and supporting them to succeed in their responsibilities.
- Promote high expectations of safety and productivity with drivers.
- Monitor and analyze driver performance metrics to improve productivity, reduce idling, and enhance operational efficiency.
- Maintain proactive communication with drivers, other departments, and customers to anticipate and resolve delivery issues.
- Ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, HM regulations, and company policies.
- Act as the primary point of contact for escalated operational decisions to prevent service failures.
- Coordinate driver training programs to ensure compliance with all regulatory and company requirements.
- Collaborate with leadership to identify trends, address inefficiencies, and execute corrective action plans.
- Work closely with management and customers to achieve company objectives.
- Exercise independent judgment in managing day-to-day trucking operations and related transportation support services.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management to support terminal operations.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field (preferred).
Required Skills
- 2 years in transportation, logistics, or dispatching (tanker or hazmat experience a plus)
- Experience managing trucking operations and support services
- Knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, and HM regulations
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; TMW experience a plus
- Strong communication, organizational, and decision-making skills
- Comfortable with technology and fast-paced environments
Preferred Skills
- Experience in the tanker industry or with hazardous materials transportation (preferred).
- 2 years of management experience (preferred).
