Role Description The Program Director is a full-time, on-site role at our locatuon on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, responsible for overseeing the daily operations and quality of services within the recovery residence and associated programs. This role manages program staffing, scheduling, and supervision to ensure consistent, client-centered support and adherence to organizational policies and regulatory standards. The Program Director collaborates with recovery coaches, case managers, and other team members to design and refine programming, monitor client progress, and address individual needs. Daily responsibilities include coordinating intakes and discharges, maintaining accurate documentation, and ensuring clear communication with clients, families, and external partners. The position also involves continuous program evaluation, implementing improvements, and supporting a safe, structured environment aligned with Transcend NYC’s mission an

- Program management and leadership skills, including experience overseeing residential or behavioral health programs, supervising staff, and coordinating daily operations.
- Client services and case management skills, such as conducting assessments, developing support plans, monitoring progress, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
- Communication and relationship-building skills, including the ability to communicate clearly with clients, families, staff, and community partners, and to handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Crisis management and problem-solving skills, with the capacity to respond calmly to emergencies, resolve conflicts, and make sound decisions in fast-paced environments.
- Knowledge of recovery-oriented care, substance use and mental health services, and best practices in peer support and supportive housing.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills, including maintaining accurate records, tracking program metrics, and supporting compliance with policies and applicable regulations.
- Ability to work on-site in New York, NY, maintain a consistent full-time schedule, and foster a safe, inclusive, and non-judgmental environment for all residents.
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, public health, or a related field; an advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CASAC, peer specialist) are preferred.
- Previous experience in recovery services, residential treatment a plus.
