1099 Independent Contractor | Part-Time to Full-Time Opportunity | Hybrid (In-Person & Telehealth)
Transcend Mind-Body Wellness is seeking an experienced, compassionate, and relationship-focused Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) licensed in Iowa to join our growing outpatient practice as a 1099 Independent Contractor.
This position begins part-time with the opportunity to grow into a full-time caseload. We are looking for a provider who is passionate about delivering comprehensive psychiatric care through both medication management and psychotherapy. Our ideal candidate enjoys building long-term therapeutic relationships, values collaborative care, and believes in treating the whole person—not just symptoms.
This position primarily serves adolescents and adults in an outpatient setting through a combination of in-person and telehealth appointments.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic assessments.
- Diagnose and treat a broad range of psychiatric disorders using evidence-based practices.
- Develop individualized treatment plans incorporating both medication management and psychotherapy.
- Prescribe, monitor, and adjust psychiatric medications as clinically appropriate.
- Provide psychotherapy utilizing evidence-based therapeutic approaches within the PMHNP scope of practice.
- Perform crisis assessments, suicide risk evaluations, and safety planning when indicated.
- Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans based on clinical response.
- Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, treatment options, and coping strategies.
- Collaborate with therapists, primary care providers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
- Complete accurate, timely, and compliant electronic health record documentation.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA, Nevada regulations, DEA requirements, and professional standards.
Qualifications Required
- Current, unrestricted Iowa Registered Nurse (RN) and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) licensure.
- Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC).
- Current DEA registration (or ability to obtain prior to employment).
- Experience providing psychotherapy as part of routine psychiatric care.
- Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, psychopharmacology, and psychotherapy skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and documentation abilities.
Preferred
- Two or more years of outpatient psychiatric practice.
- Experience treating adolescents and adults.
- Training or experience in evidence-based modalities such as CBT, DBT-informed therapy, ACT, motivational interviewing, supportive therapy, trauma-informed care, or solution-focused therapy.
- Experience using electronic health records (EHR).
- Interest in building and maintaining a long-term outpatient patient panel.
