Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Switchman, located in Westlake, LA. The Switchman will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of rail movements, including switching and guiding railcars within a facility and on designated tracks. Daily tasks will involve performing switching operations, signaling, coupling and uncoupling railcars, and ensuring adherence to safety protocols during movement. The role will also require the inspection of rail equipment and communication with team members to coordinate safe and effective rail operations.
Qualifications
- Experience in Rail Operations, Rail Transport, and understanding of operational protocols
- Knowledge of Signaling and the ability to operate communication systems
- Participation in and successful completion of relevant Training programs
- Excellent problem-solving skills and teamwork abilities
- Physical fitness and capability to perform tasks in an outdoor environment under various weather conditions
- Familiarity with safety standards and organizational procedures in rail operations
- Previous experience in rail or transportation industries is highly preferable
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications in rail operations are an advantage
