Duties
- Manage patient intake processes, including appointment scheduling and confirmation via multi-line phone systems and front desk operations
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and handle insurance verification OPEN DENTAL
- Review and update patient medical records accurately within EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as eClinicalWorks or Meditech
- Assist patients with billing inquiries, process payments, and perform medical collection activities to ensure timely reimbursement
- Coordinate with clinical staff to develop and update care plans while maintaining detailed documentation review for compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Utilize CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and medical terminology knowledge to ensure precise medical billing and coding practices
- Maintain excellent phone etiquette while managing multi-line phone systems and providing top-tier customer service to patients and providers
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Dental Patient Coordinator or Medical Administrative Support within a dental or healthcare setting
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, ICD-9/10 coding, CPT coding, and medical billing procedures
- Experience with OPEN DENTAL
- Familiarity with health information management standards including HIPAA compliance and documentation review processes
- Experience with insurance verification processes for Medicare, and private insurers
- Bilingual abilities are highly preferred to serve diverse patient populations effectively
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), typing (10 key), and familiarity with office management software like Eaglesoft or Dentrix
- Exceptional patient service skills with strong phone etiquette and clerical experience in front desk or office management roles
- Ability to handle medical records filing, medical scheduling, and administrative tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment
