Senior Category Manager Job Description
We are hiring a Senior Category Manager to manage several IT Sourcing related categories, including Cloud Hosting, Data and Analytics Software, Human Resources Software, and other key IT categories. This is a critical role on our Procurement team with a large, complex scope of responsibilities within the assigned categories as well as management of a small team who will help support the listed categories.
We are looking for a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to own the categories inclusive of strategy, supply base, and performance as well as being knowledgeable about industry trends and best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess opportunities for categories, including spend segmentation, commodity maturity, cost drivers, and supply market analysis
- Manage contract lifecycle and compliance, ensure supply continuity and deliver the best total value through RFx activities to execute supplier selection and negotiation
- Responsibility for leading large enterprise agreements with top IT suppliers, inclusive of establishing enterprise agreements
- Contracting: Led various types of contracting, including Software as a Service (Saas), Services, Goods, Enterprise Agreements, and Licensing Agreement structures, including working cross-functionally with Data Privacy, Digital Risk, and Legal Departments.
- Risk Management: Actively monitor and mitigate supplier risk, including financial, capacity, quality, and compliance.
Requirements
- Bachelors Degree required
- Masters or MBA preferred
- 10 years of experience in Procurement/Supply Chain with large-scale, complex, and/or regional/global categories of spend, plus 5 years experience contracting and negotiating complex global enterprise agreements (IT Sourcing experience preferred)
Demonstrated success in assessing, negotiating, and managing suppliers using detailed negotiation planning, tools, and processes to drive productivity, cost avoidance, and cash flow benefits.
Experience working cross-functionally both with IT stakeholders and key process partners (digital risk, data privacy, legal, etc.) to mitigate risk and align on mutually beneficial outcomes with suppliers.
Demonstrated capability of training and developing others across fundamental procurement skills and tools.
Experience taking ownership of process improvements and problem-solving to lead improvements across teams.
