Position Description
Through the review and negotiation of master agreements, amendments and proposals, this position will help our Data Center organization close more profitable business, while managing risk exposure as it relates to contract terms and conditions within the limits of Trane’s Contract Risk Management Policy.
Review and negotiate master agreements and related documents to facilitate the closure of business in accordance with Company policies and legal requirements.
Identify and manage legal and contractual risks associated with the data center business offerings in North America including providing business leaders with assessments of legal, contractual and select business risk and recommendations, as warranted.
Develop and maintain strong business relationships with Trane Data Center staff and leadership, manufacturing locations, Financial Services and Risk Management.
Train Data Center Account team on Trane’s Contract processes and policies.
Serve as a member of the Global Commercial Legal, Contract Management Center of Expertise team and develop and implement consistent COE standards, processes, metrics, solutions, templates and tools to improve and facilitate best-in-class business and contract processes in the Contract Management function.
Handle the additional responsibilities of a Contract Manager as assigned by the Senior Corporate Counsel, Data Centers/Key Accounts.
Lead training presentations with Data Center organization meetings as required. Incorporate additional material as directed by Law Department Leadership, including anti-trust compliance.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business, legal studies or related field.
Demonstrates willingness to further knowledge through continuing education.
3 to 5 years of contract management experience and 4 to 7 years of business experience.
Experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
Ability to manage workload without direct supervision.
Full understanding of the role that Owners, engineers, Prime contractors, Subcontractors, material suppliers, Surety and insurance all play in the construction industry.
Excellent judgment and initiative in selecting the most effective solutions and in creating and implementing standard tools to resolve recurring business and/or commercial issues.
Excellent verbal and written communication and demonstrated negotiation skills.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to stand firm on issues with business clients when necessary.
Ability to quickly understand business objectives of an agreement, identify related issues, and facilitate a risk/benefit analysis.
Business-oriented approach to problem-solving, tempered by an appreciation for legal complexity and risk management.
Detail-oriented and resourceful with excellent follow-through skills.
Ability to work well under pressure and prioritize and manage workload, manage simultaneous tasks and meet deadlines within a changing, fast-paced environment.
Ability to work well with colleagues and all levels of commercial and business functions at various locations.
Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines.
Strong communication skills and ability to work in a dynamic team environment with other disciplines.
