Job Title: Property Manager (Affordable Housing)
Location: Westchester County, NY
Salary Range: $65,000 β $70,000
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Property Manager with a strong background in affordable and low-income housing to oversee residential properties throughout Westchester County. This role is responsible for the day-to-day operations, regulatory compliance, financial performance, and resident relations for assigned communities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage daily operations of affordable housing properties, ensuring they are well-maintained, fully occupied, and operating efficiently
- Oversee leasing activities, including marketing, applicant screening, certifications, and move-ins/move-outs
- Ensure compliance with all applicable affordable housing programs (e.g., LIHTC, HUD, Section 8), including income certifications and reporting requirements
- Maintain accurate tenant files and ensure audit readiness at all times
- Prepare and manage operating budgets, monitor expenses, and work to achieve financial goals
- Supervise and support on-site staff, including maintenance and leasing personnel
- Coordinate property maintenance and capital improvements, ensuring timely resolution of work orders and vendor management
- Handle resident relations, including addressing concerns, enforcing lease terms, and fostering a positive community environment
- Conduct regular property inspections to ensure safety, cleanliness, and compliance standards are met
- Collaborate with ownership and asset management on performance, occupancy, and long-term planning
Qualifications:
- 3 years of property management experience, with a strong focus on affordable or low-income housing
- In-depth knowledge of LIHTC, HUD, and/or other housing program regulations
- Experience managing compliance, recertifications, and audits
- Strong financial acumen, including budgeting and expense control
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
- Proficiency in property management software (e.g., Yardi, RealPage) preferred
Additional Requirements:
- Familiarity with Westchester County housing market is a plus
- Reliable transportation for travel between properties as needed
