Website Summary Join trak group in partnering with a growing client seeking a Customer Quality Engineer to support production quality, customer satisfaction, new product launches, and continuous improvement within a manufacturing environment. This role serves as a key liaison between customers, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Operations to resolve quality concerns, improve products and processes, and ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 requirements.
The Customer Quality Engineer will lead customer complaint resolution, root cause and corrective action activities, PPAP submissions, APQP processes, and quality initiatives supporting both existing and new programs. Responsibilities Serve as a primary quality contact for customers and drive resolution of customer quality concerns. Lead zero-mile customer complaint investigations, root cause analysis, and permanent corrective actions.
Manage sorting and containment activities associated with customer complaints. Lead quality activities for new program launches through the phased-gate process. Prepare and submit PPAP packages and ensure completion of required quality deliverables.
Develop and implement Safe Launch plans to reduce internal and customer quality concerns. Monitor customer portals, scorecards, complaints, change management, and overall customer satisfaction. Partner with warranty teams to identify opportunities for product and process improvements.
Lead quality investigations and implement solutions that prevent recurring issues. Support Engineering with qualification of new parts, processes, and equipment through data collection and analysis. Perform product and process audits to ensure compliance with specifications and customer requirements.
Participate in the review and disposition of nonconforming material. Facilitate APQP activities and develop work instructions for customer-specific requirements. Promote quality excellence across Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, and other cross-functional teams.
Train and support employees on customer complaints, quality concerns, and quality methodologies. Lead or participate in continuous improvement initiatives. Ensure compliance with internal quality standards, safety policies, and customer-specific requirements.
Must-Haves Engineering degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Experience in a customer-facing quality engineering role within manufacturing. Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 and/or IATF 16949 quality systems.
Hands-on experience with automotive Core Tools: APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA, and Control Plans. Experience leading customer complaints, containment, root cause analysis, and corrective actions. Knowledge of structured problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, 5 Why, Red X, and/or Six Sigma.
Strong understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes, tooling, and equipment. Experience supporting new product or program launches. Strong data analysis and statistical problem-solving skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and statistical software such as Minitab, Infinity, or equivalent. Strong customer communication, organization, and project management skills. Ability to manage multiple quality issues and programs in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred Automotive manufacturing or Tier 1 supplier experience. Direct experience managing automotive customer portals and scorecards. Warranty analysis experience.
Experience developing Safe Launch plans. Advanced knowledge of IATF 16949 and customer-specific quality requirements. Continuous improvement or Six Sigma project experience.
