Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Assistant Caregiver to provide high-quality support to individuals in a home or community setting. This role involves assisting with daily activities, ensuring safety, and promoting independence for clients with diverse needs, including seniors, individuals with disabilities, or those requiring specialized care such as Alzheimer's or dementia care. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in healthcare and caregiving, with a focus on patient-centered support and adherence to safety standards.
Duties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Monitor and observe patients' health status, including vital signs and overall well-being
- Administer medications following care plans and HIPAA regulations
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to dietary needs and preferences
- Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance quality of life
- Operate medical equipment such as Hoyer lifts and assistive devices safely
- Maintain cleanliness of the living environment through light cleaning duties
- Support clients during outings or community activities to promote social engagement
- Document care activities accurately in compliance with healthcare standards and regulations
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement personalized care plans
Requirements
- Prior experience in home health, assisted living, hospice, or long-term care settings preferred
- Knowledge of patient care techniques including Alzheimer’s, dementia, memory care, autism support, and developmental disabilities
- Certification in First Aid and CPR required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training are a plus
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when necessary for mobility assistance or transfers
- Experience working with residents who have complex medical needs or disabilities is highly desirable
- Strong observational skills for patient monitoring and safety awareness
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with clients, families, and healthcare teams
- Compassionate attitude with a genuine desire to improve clients’ quality of life
- Ability to work independently while following care plans accurately
- Valid driver’s license may be required for community outings or appointments
