Trails Park and Recreation District helps bring recreation, wellness, and connection to residents in the eastern Centennial area. We operate and maintain several parks, trails, open spaces, and facilities all designed to create places where people can get outside, be active, and spend time together. We also offer a wide range of programs for all ages, including youth sports, summer camps, fitness classes, community events, and activities for active aging.

SUMMARY

Under the direct supervision of the Athletics Supervisor, the Climbing Wall Attendant oversees the safety, service, documentation, and upkeep of the climbing wall area. Responsibilities include facilitating youth and adult climbing programs, leading climbing wall birthday parties, and providing participants of all ages with an enjoyable and educational experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide a welcoming environment for all participants and patrons.
  • Ensure a safe and enjoyable climbing experience by exercising discretion, trust, and confidence in performing duties.
  • Maintain safe climbing conditions, including ensuring waiver and consent completion, fitting participants with harnesses, and keeping the wall and surrounding area clean.
  • Assist with routine maintenance of the climbing wall, such as cleaning holds or inspecting equipment, as requested by the Athletics Supervisor.
  • Communicate, explain, and enforce climbing wall safety rules and facility regulations.
  • Report unsafe conditions immediately to the Athletics Supervisor or Manager on Duty.
  • Respond to patron needs and handle complaints in a courteous, professional, and patient manner.
  • Set up and tear down necessary equipment before and after programs.
  • Lead climbing wall birthday parties, ensuring an engaging and safe experience.
  • Foster a positive and respectful working environment that promotes morale and teamwork.
  • Adhere to dress and appearance standards, including uniform requirements and personal hygiene.
  • Follow all Trails Park and Recreation District policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS, ABILITIES

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships with staff and the general public.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a safe environment and deliver quality work.
  • Reliable transportation to arrive on time for work shifts.
  • Capacity to understand, follow, and enforce all policies, procedures, and instructions provided by management.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & ENVIRONMENT:

  • Ability to move quickly around the building and grounds.
  • Frequent standing, reaching, climbing, and kneeling.
  • Ability to talk and hear patrons, managers, and coworkers.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and transport athletic equipment, benches, tables, and other objects up to 50 lbs. with assistance.
  • Visual ability to see objects both up close and at a distance.
  • Ability to handle moderate to high-stress situations while maintaining a positive attitude.

Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Customer service oriented with the ability to work positively with diverse populations.
  • Ability to follow strict policies and regulations to ensure the safety of participants and staff.
  • Ability to obtain CPR/First Aid certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, mornings, weekends, and holidays.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous climbing experience, such as indoor gym climbing or belaying.
