Van Trailer Body Repair

A Van Trailer Body Repair Technician diagnoses, maintains, and structurally restores commercial dry van and refrigerated trailers as well as box trucks. Responsibilities include repairing aluminum/composite side panels, roofs, wood/metal floors, and base rails, plus performing MIG welding, brake/electrical maintenance, and ensuring compliance with safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Structural Body Work: Repair or replace damaged side panels, nose panels, roof skins, top/bottom rails, and structural posts.
• Flooring & Interior: Patch, replace, or install new hardwood/metal flooring, scuff liners, and interior reinforcement.
• Doors & Hardware: Service, adjust, or replace swing/rollup trailer doors, hinges, lock rods, and door seals.
• Welding & Fabrication: Perform steel and aluminum MIG welding, cutting, grinding, and metal fabrication.
• Component Maintenance: Inspect and repair basic undercarriage, lighting systems, landing gear (dolly legs), and mud flap brackets.
• Compliance & Safety: Ensure all repairs meet Department of Transportation (DOT) and manufacturer safety guidelines.

Qualifications & Skills

· Experience: 2 to 5 years of hands-on trailer or commercial vehicle body repair experience.

· Technical Skills: Proficient with cutting/riveting tools, pneumatic equipment, and welding (MIG/TIG).

· Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 60–100 lbs, climb ladders, work at heights on trailer roofs, and stand/bend for extended periods.

· Certifications: Vocational training in heavy-duty mechanics or welding certifications are a strong plus.

· Requirements: High school diploma (or GED) and a valid driver's license.
