Responsibilities
- Direct vehicular and pedestrian traffic safely around construction zones using standardized hand signals and signage.
- Monitor work zones to ensure compliance with safety protocols and traffic regulations.
- Communicate effectively with construction crews, drivers, and pedestrians to prevent accidents and maintain order.
- Set up, maintain, and remove traffic control devices such as cones, barriers, and warning signs as needed.
- Report any unsafe conditions or incidents immediately to site supervisors.
- Assist with the setup of temporary traffic control plans in accordance with local regulations and project requirements.
- Support heavy equipment operators by providing clear signals during site operations involving dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, dump trucks, front loader trucks, and other machinery.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in construction or traffic control is preferred but not required; training will be provided for the right candidate.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Strong communication skills to clearly convey instructions to drivers and pedestrians.
- Knowledge of basic construction site safety practices is a plus.
- Familiarity with heavy equipment operation such as dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, or dump trucks is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Valid certification or willingness to obtain traffic control or flagging certification as required by local regulations.
- Basic understanding of utility locating and construction site safety procedures is beneficial.
