Electrical Foreman

About the Role:

The Electrical Foreman plays a critical leadership role in overseeing and completing the electrical scope of work on TMS projects to ensure timely, safe, and high-quality product. The Electrical Foreman is responsible for constructing the electrical components related to FDOT lighting, ITS, tolling, and signalization work. This position is responsible for managing a crew, interpreting plan sets, and ensuring compliance with all relevant codes and safety regulations. The Electrical Foreman acts as the primary point of contact between the Superintendent and field personnel, facilitating clear communication and efficient workflow. They are tasked with planning daily work schedules, monitoring progress, and troubleshooting any technical or operational issues that arise on site. Ultimately, the Electrical Foreman ensures that all electrical installations meet project specifications and client expectations while maintaining a safe and productive work environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid electrician license or certification as required by state regulations.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical construction or maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or foreman role.
  • Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and other relevant safety standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical documents.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or technical certification in electrical technology or related field.
  • Experience with FDOT or municipal projects including lighting, ITS, tolling, and signalization scopes. 
  • Knowledge of FDOT Standards and Specifications.
  • OSHA 30-hour construction safety certification.
  • Master’s Electrician License
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with experience managing diverse teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of electricians and electrical helpers on construction sites.
  • Interpret and implement FDOT plan sets, specifications, schematics, and technical drawings to guide installation and maintenance work.
  • Ensure all electrical work complies with national and local electrical codes, safety standards, FDOT Standards, FDOT Specifications, and company policies.
  • Plan and schedule daily work assignments, allocate resources effectively, and monitor project progress to meet deadlines.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections, enforce safety protocols, and provide training to promote a safe working environment.
  • Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, and other trades to resolve issues and optimize workflow.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and labor hours for reporting and billing purposes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical problems encountered during installation or maintenance activities.

The Electrical Foreman utilizes technical skills daily to interpret complex electrical plans and ensure accurate installation and maintenance. Leadership and communication skills are essential for effectively managing teams, coordinating with other trades, and maintaining clear lines of communication with project stakeholders. Problem-solving skills are frequently applied to troubleshooting on-site electrical issues and implementing timely solutions. Organizational skills are critical for scheduling work, managing resources, and maintaining detailed documentation. Additionally, a strong commitment to safety and regulatory compliance guides all activities to protect personnel and ensure project integrity.
