Maintenance Technician I (Entry Level)


Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician I assists in maintaining the physical condition, appearance, cleanliness, safety, and functionality of all Traditions Club facilities. This is an entry-level position designed for individuals who have basic maintenance knowledge and demonstrate a willingness to learn multiple building trades through on-the-job training.

Under the direction of the Facilities Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Technician I performs routine maintenance, preventive maintenance, repairs, event support, and facility inspections while developing the skills necessary to advance within the Facilities Department.


Minimum Qualifications

Required

  • High School Diploma or GED. 
  • Valid Texas Driver's License. 
  • Basic knowledge of hand and power tools. 
  • Ability to safely operate maintenance equipment. 
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds. 
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn. 
  • Dependable attendance and strong work ethic. 

Preferred (Not Required)

  • Six months to one year of maintenance experience. 
  • Experience using common hand tools. 
  • Experience in landscaping, construction, painting, carpentry, or maintenance. 
  • Trade school coursework. 
  • OSHA safety training. 

Traditions Club is willing to train the right candidate. Prior certifications are not required.

Essential Duties

The Maintenance Technician I assists with maintaining:

  • Clubhouse 
  • Ballroom 
  • Restaurants and Bars 
  • Golf Shop 
  • Men's and Ladies' Locker Rooms 
  • Fitness Center 
  • Tennis & Pickleball Facilities 
  • Swimming Pool 
  • Casitas 
  • Cottages 
  • Owner’s Homes
  • Administrative Offices 
  • Storage Buildings 
  • Maintenance Shop 
  • Exterior grounds surrounding Club facilities 


Typical responsibilities include:

  • Complete assigned preventive maintenance tasks. 
  • Replace light bulbs and ceiling tiles. 
  • Perform basic plumbing repairs such as replacing faucets, toilet parts, and unclogging drains. 
  • Perform basic carpentry repairs. 
  • Patch and paint walls. 
  • Assist with HVAC filter changes. 
  • Assemble furniture and shelving. 
  • Replace door hardware and locks. 
  • Repair drywall and minor building damage. 
  • Assist with maintaining commercial kitchen equipment. 
  • Assist with pool equipment inspections. 
  • Move furniture and equipment for Club events. 
  • Keep maintenance shop clean and organized. 
  • Respond to maintenance work orders promptly. 
  • Maintain tools and equipment in good condition. 
  • Report unsafe conditions immediately. 
  • Assist senior maintenance staff on larger repair projects. 
  • Maintain clean, safe work areas. 
  • Provide courteous service to members, guests, and fellow employees. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Traditions Club is committed to developing Maintenance Technicians through hands-on training and continuing education.

As experience and proficiency increase, employees may become eligible for promotion to Maintenance Technician II and Senior Maintenance Mechanic.

Licenses & Certifications

Required

  • Valid Texas Driver's License. 

Not Required at Hire

The following certifications may be obtained through employment and training opportunities provided by Traditions Club:

  • OSHA 10 
  • Forklift Certification 
  • Scissor Lift Certification 
  • Certified Pool Operator (CPO) 
  • EPA Refrigerant Certification 
  • First Aid / CPR 

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently lift up to 50 pounds. 
  • Occasionally lift up to 75 pounds with assistance. 
  • Stand and walk throughout the workday. 
  • Climb ladders. 
  • Bend, kneel, stoop, crawl, and reach overhead. 
  • Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. 
  • Safely operate hand tools and power equipment.

Work Schedule

  • Hours may vary based on operational needs, weather conditions, and special events.
  • Early mornings, weekends, and occasional schedule adjustments may be required.

Safety and Compliance

  • This position is considered safety-sensitive due to the operation of powered equipment and tools.
  • Compliance with company safety policies, OSHA standards, and applicable state and federal regulations is required.
  • Participation in required safety training is mandatory.

Decision-Making Authority

  • Performs assigned duties independently within established procedures.
  • Escalates safety issues, equipment concerns, and priority changes to the Facilities Director.
  • No supervisory or disciplinary authority.
