Position Overview
Tradition Hardware is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Sourcing Manager to oversee and expand our network of overseas manufacturers. This role is responsible for identifying, vetting, negotiating with, and onboarding new suppliers, while managing ongoing production relationships to ensure new products are introduced in a timely manner and existing products adhere to quality standards and expected timelines.
The ideal candidate has significant experience with overseas supplier management and with manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
Global Sourcing & Supplier Development
- Identify and vet new overseas manufacturers
- Assess factory capacity, compliance, and reliability
Vendor Relationship Management
- Serve as primary point of contact for overseas factories
- Manage production schedules and ensure on-time delivery
- Proactively resolve quality, logistics, or timeline issues
Quality Control
- Develop and maintain product quality standards and specifications to maintain consistency across multiple factories
- Coordinate pre-production sample approvals and production samples
- Investigate root causes of quality issues and work with factories to implement corrective actions
- Track supplier quality performance and enforce accountability when standards are not met
New Product Introduction
- Coordinate communication between internal product development and manufacturers
- Manage prototype development, sample iterations, and pre-production approvals
- Ensure product specifications, materials, and packaging requirements are clearly documented and communicated to suppliers
- Oversee pilot production runs and ensure factories are prepared for full-scale manufacturing
- Identify potential manufacturing risks early and implement mitigation strategies
- Establish initial cost structures, lead times, and MOQs for new products
Production & Inventory Coordination
- Work with internal inventory forecasts to plan production runs
- Monitor lead times and adjust purchase planning accordingly
- Collaborate with logistics partners and customs brokers
Qualifications
- 3–7 years of experience in sourcing, procurement, or supply chain management
- Experience working with overseas manufacturers (especially India, also China, Vietnam, etc.)
- Experience in hardware or metals manufacturing processes, ability to read and comment on technical drawings, and willingness to acquire specific knowledge relating to our hardware
- Familiarity with MOQs, landed cost analysis, and freight coordination
- Proficiency in Excel (inventory planning and cost modeling)
- Strong negotiation skills
- Strong written communication skills for cross-time-zone and coordination
Compensation
$75,000 – $90,000 annually, depending on experience
