Role Description
This contract-based Technical Expert role focuses on pharmacology, nutraceuticals, or food science. The candidate will conduct research, analyze scientific data, provide technical support, and create detailed reports to support legal cases involving patents and trademarks. The role will also require working closely with clients to explain complex scientific findings in accessible language. This hybrid role is based in San Francisco, CA, with flexibility to work remotely part-time.
This role involves providing expert opinions in federal court based on your education, training, and scientific experience. Prior testimony is not required. If you can explain complex scientific concepts clearly and accurately, we want to hear from you.
The case involves a compound invented at MIT, including both synthetic forms and naturally occurring biochemical pathways. We need someone who can:
• Explain how precursor compounds can convert in vivo into other biochemical forms.
• Analyze scientific and technical literature and opine on whether it reads on specific patent claims.
• Evaluate evidence relating to dates of conception and inventive contribution.
• Provide written and oral opinions to assist in federal trademark and patent litigation.
Qualifications
- Strong Analytical Skills and experience in Research and Development (R&D) processes
- Excellent Communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
- Experience in providing Technical Support for intellectual property cases or scientific processes
- Customer Service skills, with the ability to assist clients and address queries effectively
- PhD in Pharmacology, Nutraceuticals, Food Science, or related fields
- Ability to work independently and in a collaborative, team environment
- Knowledge of intellectual property law or prior experience in related industries is a plus
Compensation:
We offer a competitive hourly rate. You may propose your preferred rate.
We generally target $75–$150/hr, but are willing to pay more for the right candidate.
