We are looking for an HR Generalist/Recruiter to join our HR team and support our Hardware & Bath Division. This is a fundamental role in the HR team and will be central to ensuring HR operational efficiency and provide HR support by acting as the first point of contact for employees and managers.
The HR Generalist/Recruiter will primarily research, develop, and implement effective recruiting and staffing strategies to attract and retain a diverse pool of qualified and capable talent for the organization. This person must have the flexibility to also assist HR Management in a generalist capacity to process payroll, enforce company policies and practices, ensure compliance with all state and federal employment laws, working to resolve employee concerns, partnering with managers to understand team needs.
Essential Job Functions
Recruitment:
- Works with hiring managers to coordinate full-cycle recruitment efforts by creatively source qualified candidates for a diverse range of levels and experiences, build strong relationships with both active and passive candidates and utilize multiple recruiting and sourcing techniques
- Responsible for general recruitment functions from start to finish which includes but is not limited to managing postings, conducting pre-screen interviews, scheduling interviews, pre-screening (set Up and Monitor Results - Reference Checks, Background Checks, Drug Screens).
On boarding/Off boarding
- Communicate all Staff Changes and coordinate with key areas (i.e. IT, Training)
- Draft and send out employment offer letter terms.
- Set up new hires (Obtain all IT set up needs, complete a staff change form so new hire is functional
- Review and verify new hire documents & payroll documents
- Document/File Resignation letters, conduct Exit Interviews and communicate responses
- Terminations – Assist with communication and preparation
- Communicate changes with IT and/or collect equipment
- Process unemployment claims, severance payments
Payroll
- Process and maintain payroll information as required, including data entry for all time and attendance, personnel transactions, such as new hire, termination, leave of absence, benefits, deductions, garnishments etc.
- Prepares and distributes payroll reports for Accounting
Employee Benefits & 401k Plan / Leave Administration:
- Assist in communication with Brokers on annual Benefit Plan renewals & negotiations
- Prepare for and attend Employee Open Enrollment Meetings & assist employees with enrollment
- Track eligibility and assist new hires with their benefit enrollment elections
- 401k Plan Administration
- Assist in the coordination of the following leave administration task;
- Medical / FMLA Leave - Issue FMLA documents, Physician's Certification Forms, Track Leave Period
- Short, Long Term Disability & Paid Family Leave
- Worker's Compensation - Process and manage claims for any workplace injuries
Employee Performance Management:
- Assist with Year-End performance review process
- Work to train managers and employees to use the Performance Review system
- Work with management team to effectively complete and deliver performance reviews
Employee Relations:
- Partner with management regarding employee relations issues, including concerns, complaints, and workplace conflicts.
- Conduct prompt, thorough, and impartial investigations into employee complaints (e.g., harassment, discrimination, policy violations), and document findings.
- Advise managers and supervisors on performance management, corrective action, and conflict resolution.
- Interpret and apply company policies, procedures, and employment laws to ensure fair and consistent practices.
- Support the development and implementation of employee relations programs, policies, and training.
- Partner with HR leadership and Legal (as needed) on complex or sensitive employee relations matters.
- Facilitate mediation and resolution between employees and/or management to promote positive outcomes.
Position Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of HR/Payroll administration experience including but not limited to payroll taxes, W-2, year-end processing, legal and benefit guidelines.
- Minimum 4-year college degree in Human Resources or equivalent
- Human Resources certification (SHRM, PHR) or Continuing Education a plus
- Previous experience with HRIS/Payroll software.
- Working knowledge of FLSA and Federal, State and Local tax regulations.
- Performs at a high level of accuracy and efficiency, is well organized and demonstrates ownership and initiative.
- Must be willing to occasionally travel to locations in New Jersey, Long Island and Connecticut.
