What are the responsibilities and job description for the Freelance Audio Producer position at Trade School?
At Trade School, we believe content is a powerful tool to solve modern business challenges. As an integrated content agency, we craft smarter conversations between brands and people through innovative, high-quality production—especially in the audio space.
We’re looking for a Mid-Level Audio Producer to join our growing production team. This role is tailor-made for someone passionate about storytelling through sound—who understands both the creative and logistical sides of producing digital audio and broadcast radio content. You should thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, be cool under pressure, and have a great sense of humor. Most importantly, you love audio production—from voiceover and casting to mixing and delivery—and know how to deliver great spots on time and on budget.
Key Responsibilities:
Audio Production (Digital Radio):
- Lead the production of digital audio and radio spots from brief through final delivery across clients like The Home Depot and others.
- Manage voiceover casting, talent negotiations, and SAG/AFTRA union requirements.
- Coordinate with creative, strategy, and media teams to align audio assets with campaign goals.
- Supervise editing, mixing, mastering, and trafficking of final audio deliverables.
- Maintain project timelines, budgets, and estimates for all audio work.
Post Production Support:
- Work directly with the Post Production Supervisor to schedule and manage editors, audio engineers, and other post talent.
- Oversee motion, 3D, animation, and finishing tasks when relevant to audio-based campaigns (e.g., animated radio spots or social audio-visual content).
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure timely feedback cycles and clear communication across teams.
Business Affairs & Production Ops:
- Create and manage purchase orders and contracts related to production and audio-specific needs.
- Liaise between producers and the Business Affairs team on talent, music licensing, and third-party audio vendor management.
- Assist with broadcast clearance and claim substantiation, when necessary.
- Support trademark checks and manage usage rights for licensed music and sound effects.
General Production Support:
- Coordinate audio deliverables for in-house and external shoots, including live-action content with voiceover.
- Help with travel, meals, and logistics during shoot-based projects that involve audio needs.
- Troubleshoot technical or operational challenges and provide support across departments when needed.
Qualifications:
- 2–4 years of experience producing audio content in an agency, post-production house, or production company.
- Deep familiarity with the digital audio landscape, including streaming platforms, podcasting, programmatic audio, and broadcast radio.
- Knowledge of production and post workflows, especially audio editing and mixing.
- Comfortable managing voice talent, music licensing, and union regulations (SAG/AFTRA).
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to juggle multiple projects at once.
- Familiar with tools like Google Workspace, Slack, Advantage, and audio production platforms.
