Job Description:
Trade Data Monitor (TDM), the world’s premier source of trade statistics, seeks a part-time administrative, sales, and marketing intern with an interest in international trade to assist TDM’s DC office. The role requires a detailed-oriented and self-starting individual.
Trade Data Monitor publishes the official import and export trade statistics for over 120 countries for all commodities, based on the Harmonized Schedule (HS) from the World Customs Organization. The data is uploaded into our online interface for our clients to use in the government, legal, financial, and private sectors. Our Washington, DC team works alongside teams in Geneva, London and Charleston to provide ongoing coverage and support for customers around the world. TDM contracts with official customs or statistical government agencies within each country to collect, disseminate and understand their trade statistics. Clients use the data to analyze supply chains, identify new export markets or risks, forecast market trends, and analyze global trade policy and how world events may shift trade movements.

- Expected Hours: 15-20 per week.

Job Duties:
- Identify opportunities for new business, contact prospects, and effectively communicate the products and services provided by TDM.
- Organize meetings and appointments.
- Compile and prepare reports, email marketing campaigns, and correspondence.
- Attend product demonstrations and support prospective customers.
- Manage databases and set up and update customer accounts.
- Assist with creating billing requests for new clients.
- Prepare and update TDM’s profile on client relation platforms.
- Practice effective, excellent communication with management, customers, and support staff.
- Assist in editing government and client proposals for TDM services.
- Representing TDM at events and conferences.
- Assist manager with any other appointed tasks.
What does the day-to-day look like?
Each day at TDM looks a little different – from exploring and answering a client’s question, to creating marketing materials for a conference, to learning new resources and tools.
Experience:
- Marketing and sales experience.
- Proven account management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication/presentation skills.
- Technical skills in database administration and statistical methodologies.
- Organized, driven, self-starter, and passionate about international business.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Preferred experience and interest in international trade.
- Any non-English language fluencies is a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Products, particularly Teams, Excel, Adobe, and SharePoint.
- Preferred:
- Experience with Salesforce and ZoomInfo.
- Familiar with the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classification.
- Experience with Canva and Constant Contact.
- High school diploma or higher required.
- Preferred majors for college applicants: International Relations, International Trade, International Business, Marketing, Sales
