What are the responsibilities and job description for the Developer Internship position at Trade Agent?
About Trade Agent:
Trade Agent is an AI-driven platform built to bridge the gap between general contractors and subcontractors in the residential construction space. Our agent, Arti, handles the heavy lifting, automating data extraction, bid management, and invoice workflows so teams can focus on building. We’re based in Fort Collins, CO, and we’re obsessed with shipping tools that make the industry more efficient, ensuring accurate bids for GCs and faster payments for subs through a seamless, tech-forward experience.
Role Description:
You'll work directly with the CEO on the production codebase. We ship fast, we use AI as a coding partner — Claude Code, Codex — and we're driven by finding new and exciting ways to enhance that workflow. Your day is pulling tickets from the backlog (features, bug fixes, test coverage), shipping them, and working with the CEO and dev team strategically on architecture and roadmap.
This is not a "build a side project for your portfolio" internship. You're a contributor on real code used by real construction businesses from week one.
You're a fit if you:
- Are obsessed with using AI to write better code, faster. You've already built things with Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, or similar, and you have opinions on how to get the most out of them.
- Can read a ticket, ask clarifying questions if needed, and ship.
- Solid on TypeScript, React, and SQL. Bonus for Next.js, Supabase, or React Native.
- Care about quality. You write tests. You read your own diff before pushing.
- Knowledgeable about AI beyond code. You have favorite models, you're opinionated about generating images with ChatGPT or Gemini, you've used Claude to create powerpoints.
- Communicate clearly in writing. Async-friendly.
Bonus points: open source contributions, something you built that people actually use, strong opinions on prompt engineering or agentic workflows.
Stack you'll touch: Next.js 15, TypeScript, Supabase (Postgres pgvector), Drizzle ORM, TanStack Query, Zustand, Expo (React Native for iOS/Android), Vercel, Stripe, Gemini, OpenAI.
