Position Overview
The IT Technician Level 1 – Label Print Specialist is responsible for supporting, installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Zebra and Honeywell label printers, label printing software, and related IT systems across production, warehouse, and office environments. This role also provides general IT support as part of the Level 1 helpdesk team.
This position is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, enjoys hands-on technical work, and is eager to grow within an IT department.
Key Responsibilities
Label & Printer Support
- Install, configure, and maintain Zebra, Honeywell, and other industrial label printers.
- Troubleshoot printer hardware, networking, and print-quality issues.
- Support label printing applications such as BarTender, Labelizer, and related systems.
- Maintain firmware, drivers, and network settings for printing devices.
- Ensure correct label output by coordinating with Production, Operations, and IT teams.
- Track and maintain supply inventory (labels, ribbons, printheads, etc.).
- Document printer configurations, troubleshooting steps, and system setups.
- Provide user support and basic training for label printing processes.
- Escalate complex technical issues to senior IT staff when needed.
General IT Support
- Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues using the internal ticketing system.
- Assist with IT projects, system upgrades, and process improvements.
- Collaborate with IT team members to maintain smooth operations and implement solutions.
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or GED (no degree required).
- 1–3 years of experience with Zebra, Honeywell, or similar industrial printers.
- Familiarity with Windows printing systems and basic networking (TCP/IP).
- Basic understanding of thermal transfer and direct thermal printing technology.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for both software and mechanical printer issues.
- Experience with Microsoft applications (Office 365, Teams, OneNote).
- Strong communication skills: Say what’s so. Do what you say you will do.
- Ability to stay organized, multitask, and manage priorities effectively.
Bonus Skills (Not Required, but Helpful)
- Experience using or supporting ChatGPT, IFS, or other enterprise systems.
- Associate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
- Occasional bending, standing, climbing, and reaching when handling equipment.
