Overall Job Summary
The Sr. Merchandise Planning Analyst is responsible for the creation and development of department reporting and analysis, providing data driven insights to assist the merchandise planning team. Tools and capabilities should be focused on enhancing insights into sales, margin and inventory performance across store locations and merchandise product lines through effective dashboard development and visualization tools. The Sr. Planning Analyst will also serve as an expert in the Merchandise Planning systems and provide training to new hires and existing team members as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)
- Create strategic vision for enhanced department-wide reporting analysis and identify merchandising trends and selling patterns at various time intervals through effective dashboards and visualization tools.
- Build and automate data sets of all levels of complexity and size and sourced from multiple disparate systems to support the development of advanced analytics, statistical models, line review performance metrics and dashboard reporting.
- Present data driven insights at leadership meetings with merchandise planning team as needed.
- Collaborate with merchandise planning teams to identify, design, and implement reporting tools on sales, margin and inventory performance.
- Assist merchandise planning teams with developing forecast templates to create enhanced accuracy metrics, efficiencies, and alternate hierarchy views of products.
- Develop reporting to assist with seasonal selling and event items to standardize analysis across merchandise planning and create efficiencies in forecasting of these items.
- Partner with a cross-functional team to maintain data breadth, depth and accuracy across all merchandise planning systems.
- Mentor junior merchandise planning analysts as needed.
- Collaborate with cross functional business partners on adhoc analysis as needed including Merchandising, Inventory Management, Supply Chain, Space Planning, Pricing, Finance.
- Develop ad hoc reporting and analysis as requested.
- Travel as needed to trade shows, vendor facilities, TSC store and DC tours, and off-site training.
Required Qualifications
Experience: 4 years’ experience in Retail Analytics or related business.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Statistics, Finance or equivalent from an accredited college or university. Any suitable combination of education and experience will be considered.
Preferred knowledge, skills or abilities
- Extensive data collection and analysis experience
- Extensive experience in MS Office Suite
- Strong problem solving, communication, organization, and multi-tasking skills
- Retail Experience preferred
- Presentation Skills and cross functional team interaction
- Ability to present analyses in a clear and concise manner to cross functional partners
- Work within critical deadlines and completing task with a sense of urgency
- Detail oriented
