Job Summary

The Lead Software Developer will lead and mentor a team of software engineers and quality assurance professionals while driving the technical vision and delivery of Tracker Technologies' enterprise-grade software platforms. This role requires a strong technical foundation combined with proven people management skills to build high-performing teams that deliver scalable, reliable solutions serving major global energy companies.

Reporting to the Director of Development, the Lead Software Developer will oversee the entire software development lifecycle—from planning and architecture to implementation, testing, and deployment. You will balance hands-on technical leadership with people management responsibilities, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.


Duties and Responsibilities


  • Take ownership and be responsible for the development and delivery of projects, reporting directly to the Director of Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 5-10 software engineers and test engineers
  • Provide technical guidance and coaching to help team members expand their skills
  • Lead technical design reviews and provide guidance on complex technical challenges
  • Participate in code reviews to ensure quality, maintainability, and adherence to standards
  • Maintain hands-on involvement in critical technical work (React, TypeScript, Node.js and C#/.NET)
  • Partner with Director of Development on strategic planning and technical roadmap
  • Work closely with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions
  • Develop responsive, intuitive user interfaces using React and modern frontend frameworks
  • Design & implement database schemas, queries, and optimizations for MySQL & Oracle databases
  • Conduct interviews for new developer and ops positions and provide detailed feedback to the Director of Development


Education, Work Experience and/or Specialized Training Requirements:



  • 15 years of professional software development experience
  • 5 years of direct people management experience leading software development teams
  • Strong technical expertise in full-stack development with proficiency in TypeScript, React, and Node.js
  • Solid experience with C# and ASP.NET Core development
  • Deep understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and best practices
  • Experience with relational databases (MySQL, Oracle DB preferred) and cloud platforms (AWS, OCI)
  • Knowledge of modern development practices including CI/CD, containerization (Docker), and version control (Git)
  • Strong understanding of RESTful API design and microservices architecture
  • Demonstrated ability to balance technical leadership with people management responsibilities
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders with humility and energy
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and strategic thinking skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent professional experience)
